Write Stuff -- How to Become a Princess -- October 7th

Every little girl wants to be a princess. No matter what part of the world they're from, the lure of being royalty is fixiated in a little girl's mind. What is it about being a princess that allures little girls (and big girls too)? Is it having a fancy house or a large ornate castle? The beautiful dress or the loads of servants? A charming and handsome prince or a fairy godmother?

Whatever it is that draws little girls to want to be a princess, there's more to being a princess than what meets the eye.

Write Stuff -- Picture Perfect -- October 14th

Everyone wants to be picture perfect…for the big day, the job interview, the first date, and other events and occasions that are important to us. In fact, we spend money on make-up, clothes, shoes, fat busting products, face creams guaranteed to take away the ravages of time, and other hocus pocus methodologies to make us…picture perfect.

The definition of picture perfect has changed over the years. In the past, painters created portraits for their clients.  There weren’t any cameras so they had their own version of Photoshop as they altered–just slightly mind you–the person’s visage they painted to fit in with the time period’s idea of picture perfect. Long slender necks, rounded shoulders, a corseted waist, and other alterations.

Write Stuff -- Realm Explorers -- October 21st

What if you found  a golden ring with power that could turn you into a dark lord or queen? It mesmerized you, called to you, and haunted you until it consumed your mind. You’d fight hobbits, and creatures of both dark and light, travel mountains, and align yourself with wizards of extraordinary power.

You may recognize the two worlds mentioned  but what they  have in common is that these tales take us to realms far away from what we know. We are immersed into lands of magic, and mystery. In fact, one of the best things about being a writer is that you can create the world you want. Is it filled with dragons and sorcerers? Do dogs rule the Kingdom? Do the fish and crabs dance under the sea while they save a mermaid from an evil witch with the body of an octopus? Are you the chosen one, given the ability to change the course of two worlds? Can you command a ship with a crew as you head into the unexplored regions of space? Will you step through a gate that takes you to another world as easily as going from one room to the next?

Write Stuff -- How Dark is Dark? -- October 28th

I mentioned this before but the Write Stuff is an avenue for the low totem pole authors of the Christian fiction genre -- speculative fiction. The kind of Christian fiction where author use werewolves, vampires, fairies, time travel, multiple universes, string theory, and other 'taboo' items among mainstream Christianity to bring about either a gospel message or theme or to tell a good story.

Speculative fiction asks the ‘what if’ questions, the kind that teases our minds with all sort of probabilities and perhaps more questions. Sometimes, the themes discussed this sort of fiction travels down a dark road...a tunnel even.
